Provinceland Dunes, Cape Cod Pastel Painting by Poucher

"Provinceland Dunes"
Soft pastel on Wallis paper 8.5x11.5"
I blended this plein air piece more than usual to give it that softer look of these hazy days of summer. Color shapers, pipe insulation and fingers were all used to soften the edges. What do you think? Do you use tools to blend your pastels?

Beautiful soft light in this. The texture is perfect.

I look forward to sketching some dunes of my own when I go on holiday next week.

I like how you softend it all out. I usually use my fingers because i like the feel, or i'll use an old bandana or paint brush. Did you do that from memory or were you there to sketch it all out? It's really good!

TyTy, Thanks! Fingers are usually my number one choice for blending. They're handy! The piece was first sketched out in the dunes but I reworked it in the studio.
